Assistant Director of Development

Organizational Overview 

St. Stephen’s Youth Programs is a provider of year-round out-of-school time academic and enrichment programming, youth and parent leadership development and community organizing training. Our mission is to promote equity in education, employment and opportunity through long-term relationships with young people, their families and their communities. Founded in 2000, St. Stephen’s Youth Programs has grown to serve more than 400 children and teens annually in up to four Boston neighborhoods with a budget of $2 million. Our year-round sites are located at 419 Shawmut Avenue in the South End of Boston and at 31 Lenox Street in Lower Roxbury. We typically add an additional site or two for our summer program

Position Overview 

SSYP seeks to add a dedicated Assistant Director of Development. This is a full-time position of 40 hours per week. The annual salary for this position is $65,000. The Assistant Director of Development will provide general support for the development program. They will be responsible for gift acknowledgment, report production and tracking key organization indicators. The Coordinator will also be tasked with grant research and to provide event and annual appeal direct support and manage development calendar and weekly team meetings.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of gift processing and acknowledgment (enter gifts into Bloomerang, produce thank you correspondence, circulate weekly gift report to development team).

  • Assign Bloomerang tasks to development team

  • Support grant writing and reporting activities (research grant opportunities, collect reporting information, manage grant tracking document, manage grants calendar).

  • Assist collection of organizational data and compile into usable formats for gran reporting, Annual Impact Report.

  • Provide support for special events (College & Career nights, PMP graduation, Reach Beyond)

  • Support volunteer program through identification of projects for individual and corporate volunteers, coordinate on-site project management

  • Hold a portfolio of major gift prospects for cultivation and solicitation

  • Assist in the collection of organizational metrics

Qualifications

Education

College degree or enrollment preferred, strong interpersonal skills, experience with event planning and data entry preferred and secondary language preferred.

Experience

  • Development experience is helpful.

  • Previous work in administrative or program capacity in youth development is helpful..

Compensation and Schedule

Hours per week: 40

Annual salary: $62,000 - $65,000 plus benefits, including health and dental and a generous vacation package.
