Director of Development
St. Stephen’s Youth Programs (SSYP) seeks a full-time Director of Development to guide our overall fundraising strategy and lead the organization’s grant writing and communications efforts. This is a hybrid position with the requirement of coming into the office at least two days a week.

Out-of-school time programs that keep young people safe and healthy within a supportive community and strengthen critical thinking through academics and enrichment.
Teen and alumni programs that provide teens and young adults with the tools they need to achieve their own academic and career goals.
Intergenerational community organizing and family engagement programs that equip parents and young people with the tools to build power and make material changes in our neighborhoods and schools.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION
Create and manage the implementation of an annual development plan to meet or exceed revenue projections;
Supervise the Manager of Development and Communications, working collaboratively on larger scale projects and events as needed.
Research and identify potential funders for program and operating support;
Cultivate and support positive relationships with funders;
Plan and execute funder site visits;
Lead writing and editing of approximately 30 grants and grant reports/year, as well as correspondence to corporate, foundation and government donors.

Write updated content for SSYP Website
Write twice annual fundraising appeals including direct mail and email solicitations
Support annual fundraising events and smaller donor events
Ensure effective reporting, tracking, acknowledgement and correspondence with individual donors.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree required.
Previous fundraising experience with a nonprofit social service or youth development agency, ideally with multiple programs and raising $2M annually from private sources.
Experience with and connection to national and local (Boston, MA) foundations desirable
Proven ability to establish and grow relationships with existing and potential funders.
Track record of successful corporate, foundation and government grant proposals.
5+ years of management and supervisory experience.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with and gain the respect of diverse groups including board and staff, donors, corporate partners and foundation leaders.
Ability to prioritize work and meet frequent deadlines. Excellent attention to detail.
Demonstrated commitment to SSYP’s mission.
Experience using Bloomerang or similar fundraising databases is a plus.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
The Development Director reports to the Executive Director and is a full-time, year-round, exempt position. Salary is commensurate with relevant experience, within the framework of the organization’s annual operating budget, and in the approximate range of $80,000-90,000. SSYP offers 100% of health and dental coverage for the employee and dependent options, a 403b plan, five weeks vacation, and 12 paid holidays.
