We closed out the month of July with an outstanding presentation, “Safeguarding Youth Mental Health in Boston”. The conversation was led by Dr. Kevin Simon, Boston’s Chief Behavioral Health Officer as part of our B-PEACE Violence Prevention Program with a sponsorship and introduction from our friends at Boston University. After the presentation we shared a delicious meal prepared by our Parent Chef team, and Dr. Simon spent time with our Teen Organizers to discuss their research on youth mental health in our city. Partners from the Boston Police Department, the Boston Area Rape Crisis Center, the Poor People’s Campaign, Boston Medical Center, Roxbury Prep, The Italian Home for Children, and Vital Villages shared resources and built new connections to strengthen our community and beyond!
We are so grateful to Dr. Simon for his time, insight, and information at last evenings event! We look forward to more opportunities to engage our community to build a safer and healthier Boston for everyone!
For more information or to get involved with B-PEACE please email B-PEACE Program Director, Cecile Auguste at Cecile@ssypboston.org or visit our website!
SSYP Teen Organizers joined the MA Coalition for the Homeless and other allies to ask the Governor to reverse plans to restrict access to family shelters. No family should have to make the choice between waiting in an unsafe place for a shelter placement, or staying 5 nights in an overflow site and losing eligibility for emergency shelter.
Thank you to the amazing community at Linden Ponds for your donation of groceries for our families, and for creating the opportunity for fellowship and community building with our teens! What an outstanding day of sharing and growing!
Join SSYP’s B-PEACE Violence Prevention Program for this important event! The evening will include a presentation by Dr. Kevin Simon, Boston’s Chief Behavioral Health Officer, followed by a community meal and a resource fair with tables from a number of community partners!
The event is FREE but pre-registration is requested. Follow the link below to go to the event page for full details and to register. For more information email Cecile@ssypboston.org or visit our website!
